EngagePen — Privacy Policy

EngagePen (“we”, “our”, “the extension”) is a Chrome extension that generates AI-powered LinkedIn comments for real estate professionals. This privacy policy explains what data the extension accesses, how it is used, and your rights.
1. Data We Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. EngagePen operates entirely within your browser.
The extension stores the following data locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage API:
- Your API key — Your OpenAI or Perplexity API key, entered by you in Settings. This key is stored only in your browser and is sent directly to the AI provider’s API. We never see or store your API key.
- Usage counter — A daily count of how many comments you’ve generated (resets at midnight).
- Comment history (Pro only) — Previously generated comments, stored locally in your browser.
- License key — If you activate Pro, your license key is stored locally.
- Preferences — Your selected AI provider, custom tone text, and other settings.
2. Data Sent to Third Parties
When you generate comments, the extension sends the LinkedIn post text and your tone selection to your chosen AI provider (OpenAI or Perplexity) using your API key. This data is sent directly from your browser — it does not pass through any EngagePen server.
3. LinkedIn Data
The extension reads the text content of LinkedIn posts and comments visible on your screen when you click the capture button. This text is used only to generate comment suggestions, sent only to your chosen AI provider, not stored persistently, and never sent to any EngagePen server.
4. No Tracking or Analytics
EngagePen does not use cookies, analytics tools, tracking pixels, or any form of user tracking.
5. No Remote Code
The extension does not load or execute any remote code. All functionality is contained within the extension package.
6. Your Rights
You can delete all locally stored data at any time by uninstalling the extension or going to chrome://extensions and clearing the extension’s data.
7. Children’s Privacy
EngagePen is not intended for use by children under the age of 13.
